The IF Film Competition “Young, Gifted and Broke” (in association with the Guardian and the National Union of Students), received so many high-quality films that the judges, who included Christopher Hird and Dominic Minghella, decided to award seven of them the honour of being “Highly Commended”. The Highly Commended films are: Drama Category Ciarra Nevitt: “Young, Talented and Broke” Makeda Mantock: “Debt Slaves” About the filmmakers: Ciarra Nevitt- “Young Talented and Broke” (Drama Category) The Guardian writes: “Young, Talented and Broke is Ciarra Nevitt’s highly commended film in the Intergenerational Foundation young film-makers’ short film competition in association with the Guardian and the National Union of Students. It explores through the voice of one young women the numerous struggles facing young people.” The film stars Ciarra Nevitt and was directed by Jamal Woon, with music by Celeste Deveazey.

Hey Ciarra, I just finished watching you and Jamal Woon's video, "Young Talented and Broke" and I must say that it is a beautiful work of poetry. A sad and touching story that not only I can relate to, but I'm sure that thousands of Londoners can also relate to this as-well. I would like to say congratulations on winning runner up for the "if Film Competition" and I wish you the best of luck with "The Fresh Faced Film" festival, you and Jamal Woon have created a strong and meaningful video about a very important subject that I fear may still effect not only us creatives, but all young adults for many years to come. Keep aiming high and keep making great stuff.
